Baptisms and Confirmations
We are delighted that you are exploring baptism and we would love to discuss this further with you.
A christening (baptism) is just the beginning of a wonderful journey of faith for your child.
Over the years to come, it’s a journey you’ll share together with your child by:
Being there for your child to talk to about the bigger questions of life – questions about hope, faith and love.
Praying for your child through the ups and downs of their faith journey.
Showing them practically how to make those good choices in life.
Helping them to learn more about their Christian faith, through their church and in other ways.
Because of the important part the local church plays in supporting people on their faith journeys, we usually only offer baptisms to those living in the parish. Click on the button below to see if you live in the parish.
If you live in the parish or there is a genuine pastoral reason for wanting your child to be baptised at Saint Wilfrid Church, please register your interest using the forms below.

Dates and Times
Infant Baptisms (Christenings) take place during our 9.30 am Sunday morning service. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any Christenings outside of this time.
Regular members of our Informal service who are wanting their children baptised, are invited to speak with a member of the clergy to discuss what would be most suitable.
It is possible to have your child baptised at Saint Wilfrid Church on most weeks of the year, however, there are a few exceptions to this and the member of clergy will make you aware of this during your discussions with them.
Fees and Donations
We encourage those presenting children for baptism to make a voluntary donation of £75 towards the ministry of the church.
During the baptism, a Baptism Certificate is issued and a Baptism Candle is given. A fee of £18 is charged, for each baptism certificate that is issued.
If you require a replacement baptism certificate (this is required for entry to some schools), a Register Search fee of £36 per hour is charged (in most cases, the Register Search will not take more than one hour to complete), and the fee for a Replacement Certificate charge is £18.
Payment must be made before certificates are issued.

School Entry Letters
Letters in support of entry to schools will be written after a demonstration of commitment to the Christian faith and regular attendance at our acts of worship. Active participation in the wider life of the church provides further opportunities to support your application.
We suggest a donation of £36 per letter written, to be made. This financial contribution will be used to support the ministry of the church.
